The Glen Hotel in Eight Mile Plains is an iconic Brisbane pub that was established over 160 years ago. The current owners, the Fitzgibbon Family, took over the pub in 1960 and transformed it into a lively and family-orientated one. It has multiple dining areas, an abundance of excellent facilities, as well as one of the best kids playgrounds in the area, as voted by the public. The family-owned hotel offers exceptional hospitality and a vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere. With multiple recurring events, meal deals, as well as kids’ activities, this hotel is the perfect destination for families of all ages and sizes.

Redefining family friendly

The Glen Hotel redefines the term family-friendly. It has multiple dining spaces with high chairs available, a donut and coffee shop, and a gelato bar. There is a fantastic kids playground for the little ones, and during the school holidays, they offer activities and entertainment for the kids. If that’s not enough, they also have nightly meal deals, weekly trivia nights and live music on the weekend. At the Glen, you will find fun and entertainment for the whole family.

If you’re looking for a relaxing drink or meal, you’re in luck! With the fantastic play area at the Glen Hotel, your kids will be occupied for hours on end. The most popular feature of the playground is Deckster the tractor, which the kids can climb on. It also has a double slide as well as a caterpillar tunnel tube. The playground is open from 7am-9pm every day and is fully enclosed and can be viewed from the deck dining area, providing a safe environment for the little ones and plenty of peace of mind for mum and dad.

The Glen Hotel Menu

The breakfast menu is available every day from 6am-10am and offers a good variety of meal options. Menu items are in the $15-$35 range and accommodate most dietary requirements including vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free. 

For lunch and dinner, you have the option of three different dining areas. However, the Deck is the most appealing for parents, as it is the closest to and has a full view of the playground area. All three dining areas have high chairs and are, therefore, toddler and small children-friendly.

Expect everything from pub classics and pizzas to nutritious salads. One of their signature dishes is the 18hr house-cured, slow-cooked brisket. Smaller meal options include local king prawns, barramundi tacos, as well as crispy pork belly. Main meals are in the $20-$30 range, with some of the steaks creeping up around the $50 mark. The Glen Hotel also offers daily meal specials. They currently have a steak night on Mondays, Rib Night on Thursdays as well as Pizza night on Tuesdays and all-day Sundays.

The kids breakfast menu includes a Free-Range Egg on Sourdough Toast as well as buttermilk pancakes with vanilla ice cream and maple syrup. Both options are $10, which is fantastic value. Sunday mornings are your best day for a good value breakfast, as The Glen offers a kids-eat-free deal every week.

The lunch and dinner menu for the kids is pretty standard pub food. It includes pizzas, chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, as well as a chicken burger. Our daughter is gluten-free and she enjoyed the grilled chicken and vegetables. All meals are in the $13-$16 range, and you also receive a free activity pack with every meal. Wednesday night is the best night to visit the Glen Hotel, as they also have a kids-eat-free offer.
