House-roasted coffee, great food and an indoor play area
Gun Cotton Coffee Roasters are located in the beautiful Sunshine Coast Hinterland town of Yandina. Open 7 days a week, they are serving up their own in-house roasted coffee blends and all day breakfast and lunch.
This venue is a great option for mums and dads with young children and/or toddlers, as it has a great little toddler play area to keep them occupied while you eat.
A cute little children’s play centre
If you want to use this cool play centre, it’s best to request a table in the loft area so that you can keep an eye on the little ones from your table. There are plenty of tables in that area, too, which is great.
The play area is definitely suited more to toddlers and young children, but there is no reason why kids slightly older couldn’t also enjoy it.
The play area is semi-enclosed and includes a wooden rocking horse, tubs full of toys, soft animals, and teddy bears, a fully stocked bookcase, and a giant panda beanbag to sit and read.
Gun Cotton Coffee menu – Serving all-day breakfast and lunch
Gun Cotton Coffee is serving up variations on the usual breakfast meals. With eggs and bacon, as well as breakfast burgers, avocado smash and the like. The all-day breakfast menu also includes a chilli crab scramble, corn fritters, and Belgian waffles for something sweet.
The lunch menu is just as strong, if not stronger. It consists of delicious, nutritious Salads and wraps with chicken, tofu, or halloumi. You’ll also find a good variety of burgers. These include beef brisket, Karaage chicken, or a satay tempeh burger as a vegan option.
If you are gluten intolerant or a non-meat eater, then this is the place for you. Almost every item on the menu is either gluten-free or has the option to be gluten-free. There is also plenty to choose from in the way of vegetarian or vegan options.
Their beverage game is just as strong – Coffee and booze
As you can imagine from a coffee roaster, their coffee is great, and the list is extensive. The list goes on, from your standard espresso to cold drip, iced coffees, and affogato. You’ll also find a great list of teas, as well as smoothies and freshly squeezed juices.
They also have a licensed bar! It offers red and white wines, local tap beers, local ciders, and beers in cans and bottles. Throw into the mix a great range of classic and house cocktails, and you could be in for a long afternoon.
Gun Cotton Coffee kids menu – For the “little Gunners”
The kid’s menu is great, and the prices range from $4.50 for sourdough (with your choice of spread) or fruit toast to up to $10 for a kid’s fish and chips or chicken nuggets and chips. They also have kids’ eggs and bacon on toast and waffles with banana, salted caramel, and vanilla bean ice cream.
Other Sunshine Coast things to do for families
Another nearby cafe with playground equipment that you might want to try is The Local Parklands (formally Park and Co.); they have a great outdoor adventure playground for older kids. For things to do with the family on the Sunshine Coast, we recommend the ginger factory in Yandina. The Ginger Factory is a great family day out, with many activities and a playground for the kids.
