Outdoor family event with live music, food trucks and kids entertainment
Sunday on the Green takes place on the first Sunday of every month at the Coolum-Peregian RSL on the Sunshine Coast. It is an outdoor event with tables and marquees set up on the lawn area, and it is a lot of fun for the whole family.
Entry is $5 for adults, and the kids are free. The bar opens at 12:30pm, with live music from 1pm-5pm. They feature food trucks on rotation, and the kitchen serves basic pub-style food. There is also plenty of entertainment to occupy the kids whilst you enjoy a nice cold drink on a beautiful sunny afternoon.
A jumping castle and craft activities for the kids
A regular feature at Sunday on the green and a real hit with all the kids is the huge jumping castle. It’s situated up the back of the lawn area and is fully supervised and free of charge. It’s in close proximity to the seating, too, so you can keep an eye on the kids whilst you enjoy your afternoon.
From 2pm to 4pm, there is a marquee where the kids can participate in fully supervised craft activities. These can change on a monthly basis but include things like plaster painting. We were also there around Easter time, and the kids made Easter baskets and bunnies.
Food trucks on rotation, drinks bar and espresso coffee cart
Sunday on the Green normally has food trucks on rotation every month. Serving food such as burgers, Greek street food, and American BBQ. They also have their own kitchen, which is offering simple meals such as fish and chips. They don’t actually have specific kids meal options, however they are serving slices of pizza, which our kids absolutely loved.
There is a small pop-up bar outside on the lawn, where you can pick up ice-cold bottled beers and soft drinks. Inside, there is a much bigger bar, which also offers tap beers and cider, as well as wine and spirits. For coffee lovers, there is an espresso coffee cart situated out on the lawn.
Other fun playgrounds nearby
If the weather is bad or you are just looking for a change of scenery, then the Coolum Beach Hotel is just around the corner. It has a great indoor playground for the kids and plenty of great facilities for the whole family.
