One of the best pubs for families in Caloundra
One of our favourite features of the Pelican Waters Tavern is the outdoor dining deck area. Situated bang smack on the Pelican Waters Canal, it is a stunning backdrop for enjoying a delicious meal with family and friends. In addition to this, they also have an indoor playroom and outdoor playground for the kids.
Open for lunch and dinner every day; the family bistro serves reasonably priced dishes sourced from local suppliers and Queensland producers. There is something for the whole family, with gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options.
A pub with a playground and an indoor play area
While the parents enjoy a relaxing meal and drinks, why not let the kids run free in the playground? The Playground is situated outside and has a shade cloth canopy. It is pirate ship themed and consists of a ship’s hull, with a steering wheel on the upper deck and a cabin below with a porthole. It also includes a climbing net, a slide, and a fireman’s pole.
In addition to the outdoor play area, there is also an adjoining kids’ room, which gives the kids a wet weather option. The kids’ room consists of an arcade game and a chalkboard wall.
Pelican Waters Tavern menu – Food and Beverages
The chefs are dishing up share plates, light meals, succulent steaks, and seafood. The menu also includes your favourite pub classics. Meals are reasonably priced, and main meals are in the $20-$25 range. Some of the steaks and seafood meals are up around the $30-$45 price range.
The bartenders are pouring a wide range of tap and bottled beers. As well as cider, spirits and an extensive list of wines, there is plenty to quench your thirst whilst you kick back in the picturesque setting.

All kids’ meals are $10 and come with a drink and dessert. Kids can choose from the many options available, including a gluten-free steak and chips option. Other items are pretty standard pub meals, including fish and chips, chicken nuggets, pizza, etc. Dessert options include chocolate or rainbow billabong ice cream.
