One of the best breweries on the Sunshine Coast

Matso’s Brewery is located on the main street in Eumundi, on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. The pub is a large, open shed that combines various industrial materials, creating a rustic and inviting atmosphere. The outside space is beautifully landscaped with plenty of lush green lawns, tropical palm trees, and sandstone walls. And for a splash of colour, the cool beer garden features some beautiful, vibrant wall mural artwork created by a local Sunshine Coast artist.

It’s got everything you expect from a top family-friendly pub: a casual and relaxed atmosphere with tasty craft beer, great pub food, live music, and entertainment. But the best of all is the outdoor playground activities and abundance of space for the kids to run around.

Cool playground and activities

Adventuresome kids are guaranteed to have a blast at Matso’s. They will be entertained for hours on end with a fun playground, an enormous amount of grassy space to run around on, and a giant chess game.

The playground features a rustic water tank-like structure with a slide from the top. The big sand pit area has an old tractor and Toyota Ute that the kids can play in and climb on. To top it all off, there is a giant chessboard, which is also surprisingly popular with the kids.

The playground is visible from the main beer garden area but is quite far away from the action. Parents with smaller children may want to use the row of tables closer to the play area, which is shaded by a giant tree.

The outside beer garden is the place to be when the sun is out. There are plenty of timber picnic-style tables to sit and relax while you enjoy a meal and drinks. The lines of festoon lights strung above create a beautiful, warm ambience of an evening. Making it the ultimate location to enjoy the live music on the weekends. Matso’s outdoor space is dog-friendly, so bring them along as well.

Matso’s menu – Locally sourced pub favourites

The menu comprises locally sourced ingredients that cover most pub classics without an overwhelming number of options. Some of these include Burgers, fish and chips, and pizzas. For a lighter and more nutritious main meal, they also offer a variety of fresh salads, including a poke bowl.

We ordered multiple small plates from the “tastebud teasers” section of the menu. It’s a great option for those who like to sample various dishes. Don’t expect much in the way of dessert variety, as there are only two to choose from. Main meals are in the $25-$40 range and cater to most dietary requirements, with gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian meals available.

Matso’s kids menu – For the little ankle biters

The Ankle Biters meals are all $13, and there are four different meals to choose from. The meals are pretty standard kids’ pub food and include chicken nuggets, pizza, and fish and chips. The only gluten-free meal on the menu is a fruit salad and yoghurt. However, they were more than happy to provide us with a kid’s version of the adult gluten-free fish and chips. It is basically pan-fried fish rather than battered.

Tropical craft brews and refreshing ginger beers

Matso’s famous in-house brewed ginger and mango beer are on the taps. You can choose from four different refreshing ginger beers, including a chilli and lime brew. Their own range of tropical and fun craft beers includes Lagers, a tropical pale ale,  an XPA mid, and a summer ale. They even have a non-alcoholic XPA, if that’s your thing. Those who like to sample a few and stay responsible can pick up a tasting paddle for $18. The bartenders also pour a variety of wines, cocktails, and spirits, so it’s unlikely anybody will be thirsty.

With its vibrant and friendly atmosphere, Matso’s Brewery in Eumundi is a fantastic destination for families with kids of all ages. Its beautiful outdoor dining space, family-friendly amenities and weekend entertainment make it a great spot for a relaxing day out with friends and family. Sipping on refreshing craft beers in the afternoon sunshine without being interrupted by kids. It doesn’t get any better if you ask us!
